Senior Application Software Engineer, Remote Robotics

 

Position Summary

The Senior Application Software Engineer position will be a part of the development team for next generation product and capabilities focused on remote robotics. The candidate should have demonstrated experience in application software for real-time control. Ideal candidates have designed and implemented remote real-time control software for a medical robotics technology platform, communication interfaces and imaging. This is a collaborative opportunity where the individual will work with other engineering disciplines, product management and clinicians. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Architect, design and implement excellent software using software development best practices, including continuous software testing.
  • Provide and maintain domain expertise of relevant software technologies and products. 
  • Utilize novel software technologies to advance business goals. 
  • Generate software requirements documents, design specifications, and software test protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in computer science, robotics or other related technical area required
  • 7 years of experience architecting complex application programs required
  • 7 years of experience architecting complex application programs required
  • Strong skills in Object-Oriented Design and Analysis, with the use of UML preferred
  • Strong C++ skills required
  • Experience in use of complex state machines (FSM and HSM) preferred
  • Experience in GUI frameworks, such as QT, WPF preferred
  • Experience with RTOS, such as QNX or WindRiver preferred
  • Experience with multi-core software deployment preferred
  • Experience with hard real-time, high availability systems preferred
  • Experience with image processing and transmission preferred
  • Experience with model based development using Matlab, Simulink preferred
  • Experience developing medical devices within FDA, ISO, and IEC requirements and guidelines including risk analysis and quality assurance preferred
  • Strong communication skills preferred
  • Ability to travel up to 10% required
