Principal Advanced Development Robotics Engineer

 

Position Summary

The Principal Advance Development Robotics Engineer will be a key contributor to our research efforts within our advanced development team in support of new robotic systems and applications. The advanced development team is responsible for discovering, prototyping and developing new technologies which can be integrated into our next generation robotic PCI systems. This is a collaborative opportunity where the individual will work with other engineering disciplines, product management, and clinicians with focus on optimizing design and defining requirements. The successful candidate will be expected to: i) take a lead role development of new robotic applications and systems; ii) perform early stage work on enabling technologies; iii) contribute to systems and hardware design of robotic systems. The applicant must have a strong background with model based design, including system modeling, design, simulation and algorithm development, as well as experience in integration in electromechanical systems.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead role in developing new robotic applications, enabling technologies, and systems for next generations products.
  • Discover and define user and systems requirements for future applications.
  • Develop and iterate design concepts, gain cross-functional input, realize and evaluate concepts through prototyping, integration and testing.
  • Design, develop and test new algorithms, scripts, and capabilities for next generation products.
  • Support modeling and verification efforts of robotic systems.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • PhD ME with an emphasis in Robotics or Mechatronics
  • 7-10 years of technical experience
  • Applied knowledge and proficiency in mechanical design, kinematics, and motion control systems
  • Medical device experience highly desired (or other regulated industries)
  • Proficient in SolidWorks (or other CAD systems)
  • Proficient in modeling, planning and control of robotic systems with Matlab and Simulink
  • Experience in precise mechanism design and miniature drive technologies
  • Experience in integrating sensing technologies.
  • Demonstrated programming experience with either Python, C or C++
  • Must be self-motivated, organized, able to multitask, and work under aggressive timelines
  • Must have strong documentation skills
